Part 1: Shopping For Your HDTV

Many people believe that making the switch to High Definition TV is as simple as it sounds. They are so wrong.

Switching to HDTV is not just rushing to your local Best Buy, settling on a screen size and picking a model at your price range. How do you know if you’re getting the best resolution possible? If you’ve got all the correct connection cables; Do you have cable, satellite, or an antenna that will receive or provide HD content at home already? What about movie playback?

HDTV?

There is a little research involved to gain the best High Definition experience in your living room.

Before you walk into the MegaStore and begin to browse through the beautiful section with the huge TV displays, it would be a good idea if you went in with some type of budget. This purchase could get very pricey and if you have a spouse at home, talk it over with them first to alleviate any potential conflicts that may arise.

You are in the store and three of the employees rush you to offer assistance. It may be wise on your part to look around first to see what it is they have to offer, otherwise if you tell them that you’re looking to buy a new HDTV, you may just settle for the first thing that they’re trying to get rid of.

You may be turned on by some television sets that have the letters EDTV or SDTV on them, but neither one are considered to be “true” High Definition. A minimum of 1280 x 720 pixels is required to step into the range.
